Night 1 of crying it out

So, tonight we FINALLY took the plunge and has Tristan cry it out to get him to fall asleep on his own in his crib. FOr the past 8 months he has slept with us in our bed & nursed to sleep. He has never slept through the night & my sleep deprivation from that has been hard. We had planned to do it around 6 months, but we got sick for 3 weeks, Tom went out of town, our A/C upstairs broke, and the list of unexpected interruptions goes on.

But we are here! The A/C guy came yesterday & we were ready with video monitor & alcohol. Tristan had his last nap from 2:30-3:30. Had dinner at 5:30. Bath at 6. We read books, played & Tom and I tried to wear him out as much as we could. He was definitely tired so I brought him into his room to nurse & try to get to sleep. At 7:30 he finally was able to start to fall asleep with me nursing. Before he could really fall asleep, I slipped in his paci, kissed him goodnight, turned on the aquarium on his crib & left the room. So, he started crying at 7:45 and he fell asleep at 8:20! So here I am at 8:30 hoping he will sleep for awhile! I know that he might wake up a few times during the night, but per Dr.'s advice, we are not to go through until morning.

It really helps that we have my sister-in-laws video monitor. It definitely helps to see him to make sure his arm isn't stuck in the bars or something like that.

So please wish us luck that he sleeps all night! The Dr. said it should only take one night, so crossing our fingers!
