Happy Tuesday

I haven't been on the computer much lately, as Tristan has been having some tummy & sleeping issues. We do think the reflux medication is helping with the heartburn, but something else might be going on. I've been looking at my diet to see if maybe there is something that might be bothering him. I'm thinking it might be when I have more than usual cow's milk or garlicky foods and onions. He seems to have a lot of gas which might be from those foods or could also just be all the air he sucks down when he eats or cries. He has been crying a lot lately, so that could be a possibility...

When he is happy & content, he is such a cute baby. He is definitely becoming more alert & a little more interactive. We can tell he's making more noises now. Different types of cries and he is starting to coo & smile a little more when we talk to him instead of just randomly.

Tom's mother got us a boppy pillow at a garage sale that Ava destroyed after a few days of using it, but luckily my friend Emily gave us one at the baby shower. We were going to return it and use that money towards a crib mattress, but we hadn't gotten around to it. But, Sunday I decided to get it out of the trunk and try it out again. We will not be returning it! It really does make a difference when nursing and it is soo useful to prop him in it on the couch or even on the tummy time mat. Keeping him propped up also helps with his reflux and he enjoys it so definitely a keeper!

I can't believe he is almost 6 weeks old already! If I was going back to work at the end of my 6 week maternity leave, I'd be back on Thursday! I couldn't imagine leaving him with someone else already. Makes me so sad to think that mothers here in the U.S. who have no other choice have to leave them this early. I wish we were more like Canada and were able to get a full year of maternity leave! I am using FMLA which allows up to 12 weeks off, but the last 6 are unpaid. We still haven't made a definite decision about whether I'll be going back or not. Such a hard decision!

I also haven't been to see the ladies (& 5 men at work) since we had Tristan. I feel bad, especially since one of the ladies came back after 2 weeks to visit. I was going to go today, but the neon's engine light is on and work is 25 miles away, so definitely don't want to risk breaking down on the freeway.

Boots' killing had been down the last few weeks, but Sunday I caught him coming across the cul de sac with a lizard in his mouth! He dropped it & I saw it was still alive so hopefully it wasn't hurt too bad.

Little Emma has been coming downstairs at night to get in the plants we have in the dining room. Pretty much every morning there is dirt all over the floor! They are the plants we had on our ledge above the powder room and we had put them outside for the summer, but we just haven't put them back up yet. We need to soon before she kills them all!
